Annual Christmas Dinner
Please join the Elizabethtown Historical Society on Tuesday, Dec 4th at 6pm for a delightful evening in the beautifully restored historic Ironstone Ranch Barn on the Star Barn Estate. Appropriately our guest speaker barn historian Greg D. Huber will entertain our members and guests with a presentation on the historic barns of Lancaster County. He will explore the agricultural, architectural, and historical significance of barns indigenous to Lancaster County. A topic Mr. Huber has studied and researched for over forty years. In addition, he is principal owner of Past Perspectives and Eastern Barn Consultants, located in Macungie, Lehigh County, PA. His scholarly reputation as a house and barn historian led to his role as a consultant for the 2018 documentary film The Barns of the Susquehanna Valley. A popular documentary film that has been featured on WITF.
Mr. Huber has documented more than 8,000 vernacular buildings including 3,000 homestead houses and more than 5,000 barns in the east since the mid 1970’s. He is author of more than 260 articles on barn and house architecture. He is co-author of two books – the second edition of The New World Dutch Barn (2001) and Stone Houses – Traditional Homes of Pennsylvania’s Bucks County and Brandywine Valley (2005). His most current book is – The Historic Barns of Southeastern Pennsylvania – Architecture and Preservation – Built 1750 to 1900 that has reached Number One in its specific category on to 100 Best Seller List on Amazon.
